HEADTEACHER of Callington Community College Steve Kenning is leaving after ten years at the helm. Mr Kenning is taking up a headship at the Harris City Academy in Crystal Palace, London and leaves Callington at the end of the academic year. He said after ten years he was ready for a change: 'I have always believed in setting myself new challenges and I feel I am ready for one now,' he said. 'My time here has been great and, at the stage I'm leaving, it really couldn't be any better.' Mr Kenning saw the school gain specialist status in sport, music, leaving education and training, during his headship. Interviews for a new head will take place next month but the chosen candidate will not begin until January. The acting headteacher role will be given to a member of the senior team at the college.
