Carlsberg South Western League

Tavistock 3

Torpoint 2

TORPOINT arrived at Langsford Park in buoyant mood after their performance against much fancied Bodmin in their previous game and they probably thought after the first half that their good form was continuing - they went in at the break two goals to the good.

Equally the Lambs probably felt the disappointing display at Penryn was also continuing with a lacklustre first half.

The Lambs had a good chance in the opening minutes as Lee Doncaster?s low cross was back-heeled by Paul Adcock but cleared. The visitors soon replied with John Burns and Mike Davidson going close before they took the lead ten minutes before the break when Calum Wilson outpaced Darren Babb to slot home.

Disaster struck for the Lambs 8eight minutes later when from a corner the ball was not cleared for Wilson to get in between John Gosling and Meeds to steer it home from close range.

It was a different home side that came out for the second period and the fightback started seven minutes later as Doncaster raced onto a through ball and forced a defender into putting it into his own net.

Meeds saved well from Sam Matthews before the Lambs clawed another goal back when Paul Smith?s corner was headed on by Doncaster for Babb to make amends with a far post header with 18 minutes left.

They had their tails up now and went all out for the winner and deservedly got it ten minutes from time. James Cole?s great run and cross set up Smith to roll the ball in at the far post to record a great comeback and victory.
