TWELVE members of Okehampton Argyle football club (pictured right) have now successfully completed the FA?s Level One certificate in coaching football.
The club received a total of £3,550 from Awards for All, and the money has been targeted at training managers in coaching ? which includes first aid and child protection ? as well as providing extra training equipment to encourage more people to participate in playing football.
Jim Burdus, treasurer of the club, said the fact that 12 people had successfully completed the FA course would no doubt greatly assist in coaching people to play football, improve the standards and expertise at the club and help Okehampton Argyle eventually to achieve FA chartered status.
?This is a quality standard which the FA is trying to encourage amateur football clubs to strive to achieve,? Mr Burdus explained.
Awards for All awards grants of between £500 and £5,000 to fund projects to enable people to take part in art, sport, heritage and community activities, as well as projects that promote education, the environment and health in the local community.
