THE GENEROSITY of the people of Callington has been praised by the town's rotary club, which collected £850 in donations at the Co-op supermarket on Saturday.

The money will be given to Helston-based charity Shelterbox which is sending aid to the survivors of the earthquake in Haiti.

Callington rotary club president Roy Barraclough expressed thanks to the Co-Operative Society for its consistent support.

He said: 'Once again I am astounded by the generosity of the people of Callington who, despite recessions and economic worries, always turn up trumps when helping those in need.'
