MOTORING enthusiasts should take to the road and make tracks for the Lord?s Restaurant car park in Princetown later this month, to enjoy a range of beautifully kept vehicles at the Dartmoor Classic and Convertible car show. The event, between 11am and 4pm on Sunday June 24, is being organised by classic car enthusiast Alan Jenner, with volunteers from Princetown Community Fund. It is a charitable event in aid of Devon Air Ambulance and Princetown Community Fund, which raises funds for various groups in Princetown including the Scouts, Princetown School PTA, the fire station, church, the village pre-school and the senior citizens? Christmas party. Alan, who will be displaying his Mercedes 450SL at the show, said: ?This event is the first of its kind on Dartmoor. Princetown has always been a popular destination for classic and convertible drivers, as the run up to Princetown across the moor is ideal. ?It offers a good road with impressive views and plenty of fresh air. The large car park at Lord?s has been reserved exclusively for the event by kind permission of The Duchy of Cornwall and Doug and Janet Jenner, and parking will be organised to allow plenty of space, so there are no paintwork worries. ?The event is an informal gathering of mainly private owners, although Waterways of Tavistock, Devon Classic Cars and Castle Motors have all been very helpful and will be displaying some interesting cars also.? Alan said car owners will be asked to make an appropriate donation to the charities and members of the public will be charged a small entry fee of £1 to view the cars. Ultimately this will become an annual event, and possibly lead to monthly meetings throughout the summer. ?Response to date has been positive and a range of cars should be coming, including a Mercedes 450SL and 320SL, BMW Z3M, Jensen Interceptor, Ford Mustang and Ferrari 360 to name but a few. Alan said all classics and convertibles were welcome, especially those elusive British models ? just turn up between 11 and 12. For information call Alan on 01822 890612 after 6pm.
