THE Two Moors Festival, which returns to Dartmoor and Exmoor this October for the third successive year, has joined forces with the UK?s classical music radio station, Classic FM, to bring the work of the festival to a wider audience.

The week-long festival, which this year begins on Saturday October 18, will be reflected on Classic FM throughout the week, with guest interviews and plugs for the daily concerts both on-air and online at http://www.classicfm.com">www.classicfm.com

The partnership, which makes the Two Moors Festival Classic FM?s ?Festival in the South West?, will give the event exposure to Classic FM?s 6.9 million listeners.

Penny Adie, founder and artistic director of the Two Moors Festival said: ?The festival covers a larger area of the UK than any other and, with its aim of taking live classical music at the highest level out into the countryside, the partnership with Classic FM opens up wonderful opportunities.?

She said it was ?a marvellous gesture? on Classic FM?s part to support such a new project.

?It is one which will, in time, help us to see an expansion of the festival?s education programme and Young Musicians Platform combined with an even greater awareness of Classic FM in the South West.?

Roger Lewis, managing director and programme controller of Classic FM said: ?For a festival that is so young, it is a remarkable achievement to have gathered together a group of such high calibre music performers. Classic FM is excited to be playing a part in the Two Moors Festival.?

Established in 2001 to encourage people to return to an area devastated by the foot and mouth crisis, the Two Moors Festival has evolved into one of the most popular events in the south-west arts calendar.

This year, winners of the South West Young Musicians Platform and the locally based professional Ten Tors Orchestra will perform in rural churches across Dartmoor and Exmoor alongside Dame Felicity Lott, Sir Thomas Allen, the Belcea Quartet, Britten Sinfonia, Julius Drake and Michael Chance.

There?s also an emphasis on new generation talent, with appearances from Alison Balsom, Guy Johnston and Jennifer Pike.
