THERE was a healthy entry last weekend to the Okehampton and South West open meeting for lightweight sport rifle and air pistol — and plenty of local victories, too, including a father and son double win.

Entries came from all over the South West to what is a popular regular event. There are two main parts: the lightweight sport rifle competitions and the air pistol competitions — but both are shot over the same course of fire. This is 40 shots precision — in other words, over timed details and 60 shots sport, 30 shots precision and 30 shots rapid fire, so that each event carries a total possible score of 1000.

In the lightweight sport rifle competitions, Okehampton's John Sheppard won class A and his son Robbie took class C while club-mate Spencer Gransby won class B.

In the air pistol events, Okehampton's Dave Saunders won class C.

The competitions wrapped up the three-weekend-long South West open meeting for this year, with the first two weekends being confined to Rifle events.
