Devon Schools Soccer U16 Knock-out Cup

QES Crediton 0

Okehampton College 2

FROM the kick-off Okehampton thwarted Crediton's attacks. In defence Kimber, Wonnacott, Collins and keeper Herrod-Taylor dealt with Crediton's forward forays, while the midfield of King, Squires, Prouse and Raymont denied Crediton time or space to create chances.

A fine length of the field move put Okehampton on their way. A throw-out by Herrod-Taylor eventually found King wide on the right, after an excellent passing move involving Kimber, Weeks, Squire and Clarke.

King's driven cross to the near post was powered home by Raymont who got in front of the home side's defenders to give the home keeper no chance from eight yards.

The second half saw Crediton change their formation in order to counteract Okehampton's blanket coverage tactics and pay the price via a counter attack. Smart work up the left by Weeks and Prouse released Raymont who cut inside and unleashed a swerving, dipping drive the Crediton keeper managed to parry and keep out. Clarke was following-up and reacted more sharply than the home defence to plant the ball in the back of the Crediton net.

Chapman replaced the injured Squire and Okehampton continued to frustrate Crediton.
