A TAVISTOCK youngster who is spearheading the innovative youth café project in the town has been presented with the Crimestoppers Young Citizen of the Year award. David Johnson is chairman of the youth café steering group, which aims to set up a dedicated centre for young people in Tavistock, based on land near the Youthwize office in Pixon Lane. The group has put together a full business plan for the enterprise, which is currently seeking grant funding from a wide range of organisations. A feasibility study has been carried out and a youth appraisal, which has revealed substantial backing for the scheme.
