THE fascinating history of St Mary's church at Walkhampton goes under the spotlight at a special event in the village this month.
The discovery day takes place at the church on Saturday October 11, between 10am and 4pm.
St Mary's Church is a long way from Ladysmith in South Africa, yet the two places are connected by the grave of Admiral Sir Robert Hastings Penruddock Harris and through him with the famous Field Gun Run.
The Admiral is just one of the interesting subjects that will be covered during the day.
Visitors can also learn about the stained glass windows, follow history and fun trails, listen to informative talks, or discover church history and artefacts. They can even ring the church bells!
