WITH the possibility that a general election could be called over the next few weeks, now is the time to ensure you are registered to vote. West Devon Borough Council?s electoral office recently sent out its annual canvass form to be completed by all householders. If you have not responded yet, reminders will be dropping on doormats very soon. West Devon electors are able to register online or by Freephone to confirm their electoral register details in minutes. This facility was made available to electors in West Devon a couple of years ago and has proved a great success. It is open to those households where the details remain unchanged. By simply dialling the Freephone number 0800 197 9854 or logging on to the secure website http://www.registerbyinternet">www.registerbyinternet. com/westdevon and keying in your special two part security code, which you will find on your form, you will be prompted to confirm your household details and the process is complete. The fully automated touch-tone service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout the canvass period, which runs until November. However, those households whose circumstances have changed, must complete the forms as normal and return them by post. If you need any further advice, contact West Devon?s electoral services officer Carrisa Allen on 01822 813665 or email callen@west devon.gov.uk
