THERE was plenty to talk about when the Chatterbox Parent Group of Bere Alston (pictured right) was the venue for a national initiative to encourage healthy food preparation.

For the past six weeks parents have been taking part in the 'Let's Cook' project, a partnership between the National Federation of WIs and the Food Standards Agency, which funded the project.

Pam Law, of High Moorland WI and a Let's Cook course tutor, said: 'This is the first local group to take part in the project being rolled out across England and Wales by the WI to encourage young people to provide their children with healthy, easy to prepare meals.

'Busy parents may sometimes feel that ready prepared meals are the easiest way to cope with the demands of on their time. This six-week course aims to show that preparing meals from basic products is not only easy but also much healthier.'

If any other local group of parents with children at home are interested in participating in a Let's Cook course please contact Pam on 01822 890620.
