THE Christmas charity card shop at Tavistock United Reformed Church is now open for business. Tavistock?s Cards for Good Causes has once again opened its shop in the lower deck meeting room at the URC on Russell Street. The card shop is one of a national network of shops with more than 30 national and local charities in one place. Over the last five years charities have received £20 million from Cards from Good Causes for their Christmas card sales. Charities receive at least 80p in every £1 from their card sales, out of which they have to pay for the production and distribution of their cards and any applicable VAT. The Tavistock shop, staffed by local volunteers, is open from Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm until December 18.
