HATHERLEIGH firefighters will be clutching sponges and buckets of soapy water this weekend as they hold a charity car wash.

The crew will be at Hatherleigh fire station from 10am until 3pm, this Saturday, October 2, offering car washes in return for donations to the Fire Service Benevolent Fund. There will also be a jumble sale on site.

The car wash is part of a national fund-raising initiative. The money raised will assist the charity?s ongoing £2.5-million therapy centre ?Phoenix Appeal?. The state of the art centre will dramatically enhance the lives of firefighters in need of therapy and rehabilitation services following injury, surgery or stress.
