ACTIVE Devon are urging sports and physical activity clubs across the county to ensure they make their nominations for this year's Devon Sports Awards before the closing date tomorrow (January 14).

The Devon Sports Awards is an annual celebration and acknowledgement of all those unsung heroes across the county who offer their time and expertise, more often than not for free, for the good of Sport in Devon. This includes volunteers, officials and coaches – the driving force behind the scenes that help develop athletes in the county. Recent success stories such as Tom Daley, Liam Tancock and Heather Fell often dedicate their success to these volunteers without whom they would not have progressed.

The categories for nomination for these annual awards are: senior coach male; senior coach, female; performance coach of the year; coach of disabled performers; newly qualified coach; young volunteer; volunteer of the year; physical activity volunteer; official of the year and outstanding contribution to sport award.

This year, category finalists will be presented with certificates and trophies by Exeter Chief players at Sandy Park, Exeter on February 17.
