Devon division B
Chagford v Brixham
BRIXHAM batting first looked in control at the half way stage of their Innings at 81-1 with young Craig Eaves and overseas star Shaun Simpson at the crease. However after drinks a batting collapse occurred as the last nine wickets fell for just18 runs.
Although the Chagford Pace attack of Andy Astley and Del Lammonby had bowled in typical agressive style, it was the introduction of the spinners Mark Gribble and Jerry Christophers that caused havoc. Gribble, making a welcome return to the side, made the breakthrough by bowling Eaves for 38, and then dismissing Chris Lanyon (0) and Tim Robinson for 2.
Jerry Christoyphers then took the prized wicket of South African Simpson for 15 and the rest of the batting folded and Brixham were all out for 99 which included 21 extras. Mark Gribble finished wwith 6-20 and Skipper Jerry Christophers 3-8.
Faced with the moderatel total to chase skipper Christophers experimented with his batting order and this came onstuck as Chagford lost wickets at regular intervals to be a one stage 49-6.
However Del Lammonby batting in the unfamilar position of number eight made an important quickfire 20 which enabled Jerry Christophers with 12 not out and Arnie Searle batting at 10 see Chagford through to a two wicket victory helped by 29 extras.
Richard Ward for Brixham with 5-38 and Mark Orchard 2-24 were the main wickertakers
