WITH both teams' matches again falling foul of the weather, Chagford FC find themselves facing the prospect of at least two games a week in order to see out the season.
Despite great efforts, particularly by Simon 'Porky' Ralph, the club was unable to play either of the matches scheduled to be played at the War Memorial Ground.
Chagford's reserves match was cancelled in the hope of accommodating the firsts cup quarter-final but the latter was then called off by the match officials, following inspections of both pitches. Along with other clubs' fixtures secretarys, Chagford's John Pearce has been beavering away trying to fit in both teams' matches before the extended cut-off date of May 8.
The first team have 14 league and, potentially, three cup games over the next ten weeks.
The Reserves having 13 league games in the same period.
Not having floodlights at their own ground, the Club is having to look at hiring out lighted facilities in the Newton Abbot area. The club hopes to publish a revamped fixtures list soon.
John Pearce said: 'Chagford will be calling upon all their staff, registered players particularly, to come together and pull the club through this difficult period. This is possibly one of the worst seasons we have experienced, postponement-wise but together we can finish the programme strongly.'
