THE impressive fiddle-driven Celtic rock dudes from Wales are about to unleash their musical energy on the Wharf, Tavistock on Saturday, January 14. Bluehorses are probably the only folk-rock, Celtic heavy metal, goth band around and as such create an amazing sound. They fuse the passionate intensity of Celtic themes with a heavy rock and roll mindset and stunning improvisations and create a genuinely unique hybrid. Formed in the mid-1990s, Bluehorses are fronted by founder and lead singer Liz Prendergast and led by co-founder and co-songwriter Nic Waulker. Irish/Welsh Gothess Liz heads the band with her virtuoso electric violin, electric Celtic harp, space-mandolin and synthesizer. Nic Waulker delivers a musical foundation with precise drums. He is joined by the thundering bass of Nathan Waulker and guitar histrionics of Jay Macdonald. Bluehorses have received many accolades including a MOJO ?Album of the Month? and a Best of 2004 award from the Classic Rock Society. Their stunning show is full of Celtic passion, instrumental virtuosity and good old fashioned rock and roll fun. Box office: 01822 611166.
