THE newly-opened Tarka Country Millennium Award Scheme is saying 'Help us to help you'.
The team behind the scheme has appealed to individuals with projects to benefit communities in the Dartmoor National Park and surrounding area.
The award scheme was set up with National Lottery cash. Ideas for award grants have to fit into one of three categories: Conservation and Restoration; Social and Cultural or Ideas for the Future.
Projects could include special events, crime reduction schemes, encouraging tourism, producing sustainable products or introducing new technology and rural skills workshops.
The scheme, backed by the Millennium Commission, has more than £750,000 to spend on putting non-profit making ideas into action through grants of up to £6,000.
The awards team are urging anyone aged 12 or over who thinks they may have an idea which deserves backing to contact them.
Carin Cross, TCMA's team leader, said: 'This is an excellent opportunity for individuals in the Tarka Country area to put their ideas into action to benefit their community.
'We are here to help and have a pool of professional expertise and experience to give our award all the support it needs,' she said.
