THE Friends of North Tawton Primary School have been awarded £150 through a community scheme run by BT, which will increase the internet access capacity for the school.
The group was awarded the £150 grant under the BT Community Champions scheme.
Nick D?Agorne, headteacher of the school, said: ?We are absolutely delighted with our BT Community Champions award ? the Friends of North Tawton School have been working hard to raise funds for the school, and this is a great boost.?
Under the Community Champions scheme, BT employees who are actively involved in community work during their free time are able to apply for funding for their associated group or organisation.
BT?s Rowena Ford, who applied for the award on behalf of the group, added: ?I have been the treasurer of the Friends of North Tawton School for 18 months now.
?We always need more of everything but funding is hard to come by. It is very positive that BT recognises its employees? voluntary work and the BT Community Champions award scheme has given me a fantastic opportunity to receive funding for such a deserving school.?
A panel of judges a1located grants to a cross section of groups who illustrated how the award would make a difference to their community. Friends of North Tawton School were among the hundreds that entered Review One of the scheme and impressed the judges with how they would use their grant.
