DJM U15s Anson Tavistock Town U15s 1 Southgate U13s 3 AT the third time of asking Tavistock were able to take on their Launceston rivals Southgate — sadly they were unable to play with sufficient class to beat them for the third time this season. The uneven pitch at Crowndale did not allow Tavistock to play their usual passing game and unfortunately for the home side proved to be one of the factors in their downfall. The game became a battle and Tavistock did not play with enough strength to arrest the Southgate onslaughts. Ayres and Case, whilst being up for the game and playing well, went too far at times and ended up being booked. Hoar, as he has for most of the season, played with skill and determination and was without doubt Tavistock's best player. Tavistock went down in the first half after a Southgate free kick and through a goalkeeping error but fought back to level with a Mayne goal from the edge of the area. From then on Tavistock played with width at times but not enough, creating some chances but unable to convert them. Southgate continued to press and thanks again to defensive and goalkeeping errors were able to score two more goals.
