A TEENAGE driver who carried out handbrake turns and 'doughnuts' in an Okehampton car park has been ordered to re-take his driving test.

Adam Cann was seen by an off-duty policeman showing off to friends in his Vauxhall car one day in May.

Exeter magistrates last week heard he was doing hand-brake turns and performing doughnuts — even though he had previously been reported and given warnings about his poor driving.

Mr Cann, of Rectory Road, Bridestowe, admitted careless driving.

The court heard the police seized his £1,800 car, which cost him £580 to get back from them.

He already had three points on his licence after an accident and the magistrates imposed another seven points on the 19 year old — which means he must re-take his test.

Magistrates also fined him £200 and told him that a car was a 'potential killer'. He admitted being 'stupid' and showing off to 'others in the car'.
