A DRIVER had to be cut free from a vehicle by firefighters following a collision on the A30A near Okehampton last night involving a tractor with an attached snow plough.
Fire crews were called to a road traffic collision westbound of Drews Cottage, about half a mile from Sourton Cross.
The collision was between a car and a tractor with a snow plough attached to the front. Shortly after 6pm, two fire crews from Okehampton and one from North Tawton were mobilised to reports of the collision.
On arrival fire crews discovered that there were two people in the car and that the driver was trapped. Crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to release the person who was then then transported to hospital via land ambulance.
Okehampton fire station commander Ian Donavon said: ’The collision was between a car and a tractor which had a snow plough attached the the front and a hedge cutter attached to the back.
’Crews used power rescue tools to free the driver from the car. She was removed using a spinal board and then admitted to hospital by a land ambulance.’
The extent of the driver’s injuries at this time are unknown.
