A WEST Devon animal sanctuary this week appealed for help in re-homing two dogs which have been in its care for up to seven months. Jaspar and Oliver are both German Shepherd dogs and are currently staying at the Margaret Green Foundation Trust?s Wingletang Kennels near Brentor. Alan Ging, manager at the kennels, said he tries as far as possible to re-home dogs as quickly as possible ? but Jaspar, aged two, and Oliver, five, have been in his care for seven and five months respectively now and really need to be found loving homes. Alan said: ?They are both smooth coated, sable and black dogs ? they?re very nice dogs but you would need to be experienced with German Shepherds really. ?Jaspar comes across as a bit of a guard dog type ? he?s a poppet with me now but he still needs a bit of work. He?s not keen on young children but I think that?s because he has had no experience with them. ?Oliver is very good with people but not with some dogs. They just need nice, loving homes with experienced German Shepherd dog owners.? Alan said Wingletang has the capacity to house up to 45 dogs. At present, he and wife Nicky have about 14 dogs needing new homes. The couple try to minimise the time the dogs spend at the kennels, aiming to re-home most animals within a month. Anyone who has experience with German Shepherd dogs and who would be interested in offering Oliver or Jaspar a good home should call Alan or Nicky Ging at Wingletang on 01822 810215.
