DOG lovers in West Devon, are being asked to consider whether they can give a loving home to a caring canine.
Heidi, a German Shepherd, was found straying around London and was handed into Battersea Dogs and Cats Home. As an energetic dog, staff at Battersea felt that Heidi would be better suited to country life and was moved down to the Margaret Green Animal Rescue Centre at Wingletang, near Brentor, for a better chance of finding a a better future.
Heidi (right) is 15 months old and would be suited to an active home.
Animal welfare officer at the rescue centre Deana Perrin said: 'Heidi is a super smart little lady with an active mind and an active body. She's very affectionate and loves to play with dogs and people — she's like an overgrown puppy.
'We are looking for an owner with experience with a large breed, she's not for the faint-hearted but she is well worth it.
'Heidi needs to be re-socialised with the world because she hasn't really seen it down here. She really is a remarkable little dog.'
Anyone who thinks they may be able to offer Heidi a home or for some more information please contact the rescue centre on 01822 810215.
