After weeks of filling in forms and long phone calls to and from the BBC, a West Devon charity can now celebrate after being awarded a grant from Children in Need.
Tavistock Youth Café Plus (TYCP) has been awarded £5,000 from Children in Need. The money will help provide activities and trips for members of the charity.
Chairperson of TYCP Cathy Sharp, treasurer Tracy Barton and secretary Allen Lewis are thrilled to get this extra finacial help from the famous charity which is seen on national TV every year.
Cathy said receiving the grant was amazing: 'It is great to be recognised by such a well known organisation for the work we do.
'We applied in the summer with three of us filling out application forms and making sure all our documents were up to scratch to tell them all about what we do and how we help the children at Tavistock Youth Café Plus.
'With this money we will be able to continue to give these children life experiences that they would not otherwise get due to disabilities or lack of opportunities. It will give us a chance to do things we couldn't otherwise do.
'I know we will be able to use this much needed money to continue to make a difference to the lives of the young people in our group.'
Cathy said they have been invited to University of Plymouth's Roland Levinsky Building tomorrow (Friday) to take part in the Children in Need celebrations and will get the chance to talk to regional television news.
Tavistock Youth Café Plus has around 40 members and meets at the Tavistock Youth Café hut in Pixon Lane.
