A group of artists have got together to create artwork inspired by conservation work on the River Dart.

Twelve printmakers from Devon and further afield are selling their charity 2027 calendar with pictures of their work.

The original prints will be exhibited at the new Gather and Moor centre in Princetown, formerly the National Park visitor centre, hosted by the Duchy of Cornwall, between Sunday, November 1 and Monday, November 30.

The calendar is the brainchild of printmaker Beth Munro ( of Real Ideas, Plymouth) and academic Dr Sally Sutton, who wanted to find a creative way to support the many groups working together to care for the river.

The project highlights the restoration of peat bogs on the high moor, riverbank tree planting and conserving lichens in the Dart Valley.

Each artist joined in the various projects.

Sarah Burt, a printmaker based near Totnes, went to Dartmeet with April Windle from the British Lichen Society.

Sarah said: “I spent a fantastic morning exploring the river path for lichens. April’s knowledge is exceptional and her enthusiasm infectious!”

The calendar covers the river’s source to the sea.

Beth said: “The calendars are an invitation to enjoy the beauty of the Dart, while highlighting the importance of protecting a shared resource for generations.”

Sally added: “The calendar is a focus for connection and creativity, bringing together conservation groups.”

Proceeds from the calendar will be donated to Friends of the Dart, Riverfly project and River Dart Catchment Partnership.

On Saturday-Sunday, November 14-15 and 27, printmakers Jessica Rohanne and Sarah Burt will be present at the exhibition to discuss the different methods of printmaking while Beth Munro will offer visitors to get their hands inky by trying out printmaking on a mini-press.
