TAVISTOCK will soon see a new bus provider take over the reins from First — with an offer of providing more reliable timetables.

Stagecoach confirmed that as of September 6 it will complete its takeover of the Plymouth and South Devon operations of First Devon and Cornwall.

Stagecoach said that it would provide more reliable timetables, an improved fleet of buses, more frequent services to Tavistock and an hourly link through to Dartmouth. The company added that it would continue to run the local town services without any changes to the timetables.

Bob Dennison, managing director of Stagecoach South West, said: ‘We’re really excited to be launching our Plymouth and South Devon network which is built on frequent services, good value fares, modern buses and easy to use timetables.

‘We have a lot planned for the next few months so please bear with us whilst we get everything up to speed.’
