WEST Devon Citizens Advice Bureau wants to strengthen its volunteer trustee board by recruiting two new members at its annual meeting in June.
The charity, which has offices in Tavistock and Okehampton, needs leaders to guide it through the coming few years so that it can continue to meet the evolving advice needs of the population and maintain its service.
Bureau manager Barbara Osbourne said: 'West Devon CAB has an important role to fill in our community. This was demonstrated last month by the help we gave to people made redundant in Okehampton, when the need was for CAB to give local people the right advice, in the right place, at the right time.
'Our board of trustees has enabled the CAB to be flexible and respond to emergencies while still providing our regular advice sessions in bureaux, at outreach locations and in people's own homes.
'We are looking for trustees who can bring skills to our board from different backgrounds. They may never have been involved in a charity before, or have a great deal of experience, but could be a service user or have good connections with business or the community.'
West Devon CAB is a company limited by guarantee and holds bi-monthly trustee board meetings to ensure proper management and governance of the charity.
In addition, trustees take part in occasional working group meetings to deal with particular issues such as business planning, funding and human resources.
They may also be invited to attend county, regional or national CAB events.
