A GENEROUS mother form Tavistock has donated a huge amount of new children's books for the families at Little Harbour — the children's hospice near St Austell where families can stay for a break from day to day life at home. Rachel Pocknell used to be a teacher. She currently works as an administrator at a local primary school and has a special passion for giving children a love of reading. She was able to buy all the books after organising a coffee morning to raise the funds. Several local businesses also contributed. Rachel is also an independent Usborne organiser and Usborne books generously added an extra donation of free books to the total. She said: 'I am so pleased that the books will be used by all the families and hope that some of the siblings will be able to take home a favourite book. As an ex-teacher and a mum, I know how important the time spent reading with adults is and am so pleased that the families at Little Harbour can have a few extra books to choose from!' Judy Pride, community fundraiser for Children's Hospice South West, said: 'I am so grateful to Rachel for her hard work, not only organising the coffee morning to raise the money, but choosing a wide range of lovely books that will entertain and help our children.'
