NEWbridge in Gunnislake will be closed to traffic for four days next week, for ‘routine inspection work’.

The bridge is set to be closed during working hours to allow Devon County Council to inspect the bridge for future maintenance and clear vegetation.

A spokesperson for Devon County Council said: ‘Routine inspection work will be carried out on Newbridge in Gunnislake from Tuesday, September 18 to Friday, September 21.

‘Due to the narrow width of the bridge, it has to be closed from 9.30am to 4.30pm while the inspection is conducted.

‘The inspection will help the county council plan future maintenance for the bridge in order to prevent major structural work in the long term.

‘Vegetation will also be cleared from the bridge during the inspection and mortar will be repaired where necessary. Residents have been notified in advance, information boards are on site and signed diversions will be in place during the closure.’
