THIRTY-FIVE runners turned out in atrocious weather conditions to run the Tavistock Athletic Club Christmas handicap race on New Year's Eve.
This annual event held on Whitchurch Down saw the worst possible weather conditions with strong cold winds and driving rain, but club members of all ages braved the elements to compete.
The first runner home was Nathan Wonnacott in an actual race time of 34mins 40secs. This was an excellent time for Nathan who was the youngest runner in the field.
The first lady finisher was Karen Ballentyne who finished in overall ninth place in a time of 34mins 34 secs.
The fastest runner on the day was Richard Drage who finished in overall eighth place in a time of 23mins 58 secs.
Presentations were made after the race to the two winners at the Halfway House at Grenofen with additional presentations made to Steve Groombridge and Llew Jones for their consistent participation in the event.
