Plymouth University A 5
Tavistock A 4
THIS hockey match although on paper was looking to be a mis-match, with both sitting at opposing ends of the table, turned out to be an exciting end to end game.
The University started brightly but after the first few pacy attacks, Tavistock settled into their own attacking style.
It was obvious that the home side did not like the game being taken to them and Tavistock continued to move the ball up both flanks. Against the run of play, the University were two ahead but the lead did not last long. Tavistock were rightly back on terms following a great strike from Jeffery's and a well slotted goal from Vincent.
The game ebbed and flowed with chances coming from both sides but Tavistock were soon in front after another firm strike by Vincent.
With the Tavistock midfield in control via Daniels, Honey and Heard more chances came and a resulting short corner neatly followed up by Andrews gave the visitors their fourth.
The control of the game was still with Tavistock but the University were always dangerous and they broke and slotted two goals to ease themselves in front in the last few minutes.
Tavistock never gave up and camped themselves in the Uni D and fought hard for the deserved point but could not capitalise on the possession.
This was a great game but a disappointing result for Tavistock, who can take heart from the performance.
