YOUNGSTERS with Muscular Dystrophy gathered in Tavistock Methodist Chapel recently for the Tavistock branch of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign's annual party.

The young people with the disease, along with their families and friends, visited the party throughout the day to meet with supporters of the Tavistock branch to say thank you for their help during the year.

Muscular Dystrophy is a muscle-wasting disease, which in its most extreme form, leads to a short life expectancy and the need to use a wheelchair from around the age of ten.

Each year, the Tavistock branch of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign organises a holiday for young people suffering from MD. Volunteers from the town act as helpers to around 15 guests from around Devon and Cornwall.

The 2013 holiday was to Coventry, where the youngsters had great fun, and at the same time, gave their parents and carers a well-earned break.

The Holiday Project has been running for around 40 years and has been generously supported by the townspeople of Tavistock.
