THE speaker at the recent Callington Rotary Club meeting was Paul Smith from the charity Brainwave.
The charity, based in Bridgewater, was established more than 30 years ago and makes a difference to the lives of the disabled children it treats as well as their families.
With centres in Essex and Cheshire as well as in Somerset, Brainwave has around 675 children on its books suffering from disabilities such as cerebral palsy, brain damage and injury related problems.
Paul Smith was able to relate a number of cases of remarkable achievement.
The charity receives nothing from central government and relies primarily on donations received from companies and individuals as well as their own fundraising activities.
Paul was thanked by rotarian Bob Wade, who said that it was so good to know that Brainwave existed to give hope to parents and children where there was once no hope at all.
