Okehampton Argyle U12s 3

Torridge 1

ARGYLE were the stronger team with excellent team work by the defenders. Torridge started to put the pressure on, but Argyle?s defence remained strong, Tom Battershall working hard to keep Torridge off the ball, and just before half time excellent defence from Tim Doidge saved the ball on the goal line.

Torridge came out as the stronger side at the beginning of the second half and looked like dominating the game. However, Jake took Torridge by surprise and took an unexpected opportunity, scoring a goal.

Torridge fought back hard and Argyle?s goal keeper Will Ingram made a series of outstanding saves as the visitors grew in confidence. Tim Doidge and Simon Fellowes helped to keep two other shots out of the Argyle goal, but inevitably the onslaught led to an equaliser.

Torridge still put pressure on, but with only minutes to go before the final whistle a run by Bradley Ausden led to a brilliant goal for Argyle, and unbelievably in the dying moments of the game, a second goal, which was also set up by Bradley. The Torridge goalkeeper caught the ball, but slipped and lost contact with the it, allowing Jake Ayris to slam it into the net.
