Intermediate Cup Beer Albion 0 Oke Argyle Seconds 5 ARGYLE seconds played their third cup game in four weeks on Saturday and after winning this third round tie it sees their progress to the quarter final with a home draw. The final score line looks as though Okehampton must have completely outplayed Beer but this wasn?t the case in the first 45 minutes. Okehampton?s Darren Prouse hit the post in the first minute but it was keeper Harry Geering that kept Okehampton in the game with some fine saves throughout the first half. His hard work matched with desperate defending from Oke?s back four of Elliot Collins, Nick Jones, Aaron Ditchburn and Danny Maddox kept Beer out. It was Danny Maddox who opened the scoring at the other end in the 36th minute with a well-struck shot. The half ended 1 ? 0 to Okehampton. The second half started as closely as the first, both sides battling to keep hold of the ball for long periods. Eventually it was Okehampton who managed to stamp some control of the game by creating some good chances with Darren Prouse converting one after some good play by Ricky Drew. The rest of the half saw Beer tiring and Okehampton scoring another goal from Prouse and two from Drew. Bampton Seconds 0 Oke Argyle Thirds 4 ARGYLE travelled to unbeaten Bampton for what should have been a tight game; however Argyle dominated their opponents from start to finish. John Coakley started proceedings for the visitors after running on to a huge Neil Clift kick and firing in an unstoppable shot. The man of the match was undoubtedly Chris Holland, who came close with a 35 yard thunderbolt of a shot which the keeper did well to tip over the bar. Okehampton went in one up at the break but could have had the game killed off after good chances for Alex Osman and Mark Wood went unconverted. Bampton started the second half brightly, however it was James Callaghan who scored the game?s second goal for Argyle with a powerful drive from the edge of the box. The home side continued to press for a goal but Neil Clift had a quiet afternoon as a result of excellent defending from the Okehampton back four. The third goal was the game?s best after Chris Holland went past a couple of Bampton defenders before delivering a perfect cross met with a superb header from James Callaghan. With 10 minutes to go Okehampton?s midfield general made way for Chris Bungay after a commanding display. Chris Holland was also the provider of the fourth goal, again beating his defenders before delivering another teasing cross which was turned in for an own goal.
