WEST Devon electors were the most diligent in the South West for the European elections last Thursday as just over 42% turned out to vote — the highest turnout of 38 authorities throughout the South West region.  The region stretches from Bournemouth in the East to Gloucester in the North and the Isles of Scilly to the West. The region also includes Gibraltar.  Throughout the region, of those 4,059,889 eligible to vote, 1,503,899 voted - an overall turnout of 37.04 per cent. More than 18,000 electors turned out to vote in West Devon.  The West Devon results are: An Independence From Europe, 243; British National Party, 112; Conservative Party, 6,019; English Democrats, 164; Green Party, 2,277; Labour Party, 1,527; Liberal Democrats, 1,570;UK Independence Party (UKIP), 6,172.
