FOLLOWING the Taste of the West Food Awards which were presented in July two new booklets are set to become invaluable to anyone hunting for award winning food and drink from the region.
They provide a wealth of information featuring the gold, silver and bronze winners in the various Taste of the West Food Awards 2003 categories.
Award Winning Places to Stay and Eat in the South West lists the top bed and breakfasts, pubs, restaurants and tea-rooms together with information about home produced and local food served.
In Devon the bronze award winning Tinhay Mill Restaurant at Lifton is listed. The booklet informs us that the restaurant has ?quickly earned a reputation for outstanding cuisine, using only fresh quality local produce?.
The Award Winning Food and Drink from the South West guide includes sections on bakery, dairy, meat, fish, preserves and drink with each producer listed along with full contact details.
Peninsula Milk Processors Ltd based at the Exeter Road Industrial Estate, Okehampton is listed as a Food Gold Award winner.
Also mentioned in the meat section for a rack of pork is gold award winner Dartmoor Happy Hogs based at Moorlands Farm Shop, Whiddon Down, Okehampton which also earned a silver award for their pork, apple and sage burgers.
