THIS year sees Yelverton Bohemians Cricket Club celebrate their 50th anniversary.

The club was formed in 1960 following the merger of village team Yelverton with wandering club Plymouth Bohemians.

Cricket has been played at Yelverton since the early part of the last century.

This ambitious but family friendly club is located on the fringes of the Dartmoor National Park in West Devon and fields three Saturday league teams plus Sunday and midweek evening league teams and has a thriving junior academy with more than 100 members under the age of 16.

The excellent club outdoor practice/coaching facilities include two all-weather nets, grass nets, and a bowling machine.

Coaching is well structured and co-ordinated by a qualified ECB UKCC club coach and well supported by ECB UKCC2 coaches and UKCC1 coaching assistants.

A number of cricket and social events are planned to celebrate the 50th anniversary, including a summer ball, fixture against a Devon Cricket League representative XI, a Cricket Week, Junior Cricket Festival and a cricket tour.

Pre-season indoor training/nets for the seniors start today at Plymouth College sports hall, Ford Park, Plymouth between 5.30pm to 7.30pm and run until mid April.

1-2-1 coaching, complete with video analysis and access to bowling machines is also available.

New players of all standards are always welcome.
