TWO marathon runners from the Okehampton area are taking part in the Flora London Marathon again this year and are hoping to beat last year?s times.

Geraldine Walter who lives near Ashbury, and Mark Duddridge from Bratton Clovelly, will be joined this year by Alistair Simons from Launceston. All three are parents of children at Boasley Cross Primary School.

Last year, the two runners raised more than £3,000 for children?s charity PHAB ? Physically Handicapped and Able Bodied.

Geraldine said training was going well for the event which takes place on Sunday, April 18, with the three running together to give each other encouragement. She said she had done a lot of her training runs on the cycle track and had recently completed a 21-and a half-mile practice run.

Geraldine said all three were looking forward to the challenge of the marathon. ?Crossing the finish line is an incredible feeling. I enjoyed it so much last year, when you?ve done it once, it is really quite addictive,? she said.

PHAB is dedicated to the integration of children with disabilities.
