Okehampton U14s 7 Ivybridge U14s 12 IVYBRIDGE started well, running in two tries fairly quickly, converting one. Okehampton?s defence then settled with wing-forward Richard Friend and fly-half Tom Browne putting in good tackles. Centre David Binns and full-back Rory Honeychurch tackled well out wide ? Ivybridge could not penetrate to score. In the last quarter Okehampton started to get the better of Ivybridge in the forwards, with No 8 Rob Long gaining a lot of ground, Luke Crocker again supporting and taking the ball on, with Long eventually going over from a ruck. Browne converted well from near the sideline. Okehampton, now winning good ball from the forwards, attacked with confidence out wide, with wings Carl Goodall and Dan Braime having good runs and centre Binns? jinking run being stopped just short of the tryline by some desperate Ivybridge defence to hold on to their lead until the final whistle. Okehampton U11s Ivybridge U11s A STRONG visiting Ivybridge side got their revenge for a defeat earlier in the season. The home team never really got into their stride and found themselves three tries down within the first ten minutes. The writing was on the wall for a hiding, but the Okehampton boys showed great spirit and fought back. The forwards won scrum against the head after scrum, which had a settling effect on the play. Scrum half, Matt Johns, broke from his own half and would have scored but for a superb covering tackle. Henry Cooper made a barging run through the Ivybridge midfield but was also caught short. Excellent tackling from the whole side was evident and special mention for this to Tom Foggarty. Ivybridge are a good team and deservedly scored another try at the end of the second half. Okehampton U10s 10 Ivybridge U10s 10 AFTER a pre-match warm up the teams got down to business on what, after all the recent rains, was a soft pitch. Both teams played a tight and determined game with little leeway for mistakes. The power of Okehampton?s forwards Matt, Dean and James, with the assistance of scrum half Luke and fly half Dean ensured that they held Ivybridge in their own half most of the time. A great breakaway try by Ivybridge was soon followed by a powerful counter attack, allowing Dean to cross the line. The second half continued on the same basis with Okehampton pressurising their opponents, allowing Dean to cross the line again. Unfortunately Ivybridge scraped over the line once more. Getting a draw was an excellent result against a very good team. Okehampton U10s 10 Ivybridge Reserves U10s 10 IVYBRIDGE had turned up with a large squad, so Okehampton agreed to play a further half against the fresh team. Again power was in evidence, with the forwards doing a great job but the backs were active in defence with superb tackling by Will, Liam and Tom, backed up by Edmond at full back. Tom and Jordan both crossed the line for tries, as did two Ivybridge players. The slippery conditions foiled both sides from more tries. Okehampton U9s 20 Ivybridge U9s 20 OKEHAMPTON had a wake-up call against a very well organised Ivybridge team, playing with pace and well rehearsed moves. Okehampton were three tries down in as many minutes, but then started to put the tackles in. Giles Heard scored the first try and Josh Bickley scored another bringing Okehampton back into the game. Okehampton had the better of the play in the second half, with Ike Francis and Louis Day working hard in the loose. Giles Heard scored two more tries, and Ivybridge equalised at the end. Okehampton EU 25 Ivybridge EU 20 IN Okehampton?s second game the smaller players gelled a lot better and played some good flowing rugby. Billy Searle at scrum half opened the scoring. Ivybridge replied with a good try. Josh Bickley scored two well worked tries, but Ivybridge came right back to level the score. Toby Gostling had two good breaks and just knocked the ball on over the line with the second run. Callum Pillavant held onto a high pass and burst over the line for a well deserved try. Will Cooper scored the winning try in the dying moments.
