A DEVON-wide, not-for-profit company has lent out a record number of bikes over the past 18 months, in order to get people back on the road and in- to work or training.

Devon Wheels 2 Work is a community interest company helping people from rural areas of Devon get to their place of work or training by arranging the hire of motor bikes at a fraction of the normal cost. In the past 18 months 319 people have hired bikes from Devon Wheels 2 Work.

Max Jowett, managing director of the company said: 'I am really pleased that we have managed to help so many people in such a short space of time. It is an excellent feeling, knowing that our bikes have made such a difference to people and in many instances have helped get them back to work and even in to new careers.'
