A friendly better ball match play Challenge Trophy between the ladies and the men's veterans took place at Yelverton Golf Club last week. There were eight matches in this popular event, which is the second this year in a new competition initiated by the present captains. Most of the matches began in heavy rain and cold winds but the rain cleared and some sunshine helped those taking part. The result was a draw but the veterans retain the trophy as they won the first competition which was held in March this year. After the match tea the men's vets captain, Tony Rushbrooke, and the ladies' captain, Christine Longden, said a few words to the members.
