STEP out for five-legged fun around Okehampton next month — all in aid of the BBC's Children In Need appeal.

Okehampton District 41 Club is again organising the five-legged race around Okehampton. Over the past few years, this successful event has become part of the town's autumn calendar and raised thousand of pounds for this worthy cause.

Teams of four with their legs bound at the ankles race around eight of the pubs in town, pausing for a well-earned drink at each one. Each team is sponsored by friends, family and workmates.

Late entries are welcome from any team prepared to make a £5 contribution to enter the fun.

Okehampton 41 Club chairman Nigel Bishop said: 'As Okehampton people will know, the five-legged race has become the town's major contribution to the Children In Need appeal.

'I am sure that once again we can look forward to an incredibly good turnout from participants and spectators alike and a really good fun evening.'

The event takes place on Children In Need night itself, Friday, November 21. The start will be at Simmons Park and the finish by the West Bridge. Entrants will need to check in at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

There will be prizes for the winners in the men's, women's and mixed classes as well as the best-dressed team and the quartet which has raised the most sponsorship.

Entry forms are available from Richard Leonard at Bob Gee TEAM estate agents in East Street and from Neil Hancock at Do-It-Yourself Supplies in St James Street.

Completed forms should be handed in to the Okehampton 41 Club secretary Mike Tremeer at Stones Solicitors. Any of them will be more than happy to answer any question entrants may have.
