THE Bere Scouts welcomed six new cubs to say the cub promise at their investiture at Bere Alston Parish hall, while the chief scouts were given their silver awards by district commissioner Cath Monks. In attendance was a scouting family, the Bourtons, who are all members of the Bere Scouts — Bryn, seven, is a beaver, Thea, 10, cub, Darcy, 14, scout, Hallam, 15, explorer, and parents Dominic, leader and Jo, assistant leader.
