A SILVER fish lake record went to junior angler Benjamin Evenden at Milemead Fisheries, Mill Hill on Saturday with a beautiful 2lb 6oz roach. Benjamin, who has just turned nine and lives at the fishery, caught the roach on a hair rigged tutti fruity flavoured boillie. Benjamin has been taken under the wing of Plymouth angler Andy Jones, who is mentoring him in the finer parts of angling. Ironically Andy also holds the carp lake silver fish record with a 2lb 6oz roach caught on the same swim using the same method in April 2006 but looking at the scale pattern of both fish they are two different roach. Despite an inch of rain falling in just 30 minutes prior to the Summer League match on Thursday the final results were incredibly tight with just 7ozs splitting the top three anglers. John Hetherington won with 55lb 5ozs from with Nick Jones just two ounzes behind with 55lb 3ozs and Brian Samuels with 54lb 14ozs.
