FUNDS raised from the Bere Pen 10k road race 2014, hosted by the Bere Alston Trekkers (BATS), were awarded to local community groups in the village last week.

A total of £600 was available to community groups within the Bere Peninsula who were invited to submit a bid.

Every bid that was made was successful and the funds were shared between Bere Alston Rainbows for a camera, Bere Alston Pre-school towards IT equipment, Tiddlywinks for a boys construction table and tools, Collytown Stud for folding tables, Debbie Doidge Childminding for a Kidizoom twist child's camera, Weir Quay Sailing Club Cadets for equipment, Wednesday Wipe-out Active Toddlers for signage and other equipment and a donation was made to Trinity Hall in thanks for the BATS' use of the hall.

This year's Bere Pen 10k will be on Sunday, May 3. Entries are now open and communities will be able to bid again for funding.
