AFTER a year's hard training and some fantastic races it was time for members of Bere Alston Trekkers (BATs) to hang up their trainers in favour of dresses and shirts for the club's annual presentation evening.
2008 has seen Bats run in a host of races from Bideford Half Marathon in March, London Marathon in April, Plymouth Half Marathon in May, Cardiff Half Marathon through to the Great North Run in October and a few others in between.
The were four awards for club members: male newcomer, Chris Baab; improver of the year, Pam Adams; club member of the year, Bridget MacDonald and club athlete of the year, Sam Marshall.
Club chair Dotty Allan was presented with theatre ticket tokens and a bouquet by appreciative members. Club members would like to thank family, friends, residents of Bere Alston and Bere Ferrers, Tavistock Athletic club members and the Times for their continued support. New members of any age and ability are welcome at the club anytime but especially in the New Year.
