Tavistock Ladies 1st XI 3 Isca Dragons 3rd XI 3 TAVISTOCK were dominant in the distribution of the ball. Susannah Boulle and Laura Stapleton worked well in defence and were a solid wall when tackling players. The ball was sent up the pitch and Jo Gaspar and Sarah Barratt created the opportunity for Barratt to score the first goal. It was not long before the opposition equalised. Becky Lamb and Sarah Holton linked well through midfield and were able to break down and slow the pace of the ball as it got sent through the centre of the pitch. With Lisa Butler and Robynne Honey strong on the right it allowed the ball to be switched across the pitch. At half-time the main focus was to make sure the team went home with at least one point if not three. Tavistock re-grouped their structure and again Barratt, who battled on the left, scored the goal that put Tavistock into the lead. Judy Miller had one of her best games this season and chased down every single ball. She created opportunities for Tavistock to score more goals. Nikki Woodroffe was playing upfront and was quick to gain Tavistock some short corners. These were well executed and it was unfortunate that Gaspar just narrowly missed the goal on a couple of occasions. Isca scored to equal then scored again through a weakness in the defence of Tavistock, as players were chasing the ball and not marking up securely enough. With only minutes to go, Barratt had a run up the pitch and scored a goal to equal the score at 3-3. It still looked as if it could go wrong as Isca were awarded a short corner as the final whistle went. They brought all their players around the D but good defending from Stapleton sent the ball clear. Tavistock were pleased with their performance and the fact they gained a point on the table. This week Tavistock are away at Lux Park at 3pm playing Caradon.
